380 glock

I read somewhere that glock chambered some of their models in 380. Are those available here in the USA? Are they a smaller frame? What are the model numbers?

I've been dealing with a lot of pain in my right hand and have sold most of my bigger guns because of this problem. I love the glock 32 but the recoil hurts my hand when I'm having a bad day. I have been considering a 9mm or a 380. Any ideas? Regards, Byron

The GLOCK G25 and G28 are the .380's.

Due to the BATFE's silly import laws, they cannot be imported for anyone but law enforcement agencies. Once in the country, they are legal to own, but due to their size, not many agencies ever buy them.

The G28 is the subcompact and is the EXACT same size as the G26(9mm) / G27(.40) / G33(.357) / and G39(.45GAP)

The slide on the G39 is thicker than the others, but all of those models, as well as the G28, share the same frame.

The G25 is the compact and is the EXACT same size as the G19(9mm) / G23(.40) / G32(.457) and the G39(.45GAP)

Like the G39, the G38 has a thicker slide, but all share the same frame, including the G25.

So, more expensive ammo, less effective caliber, and very large in size for a .380, coupled with the difficulty of getting one in the country, leads to very very few available.

Also, the G25 and G28 are blowback operated, so felt recoil is going to be about as bad as the 9mm anyway.

Glock does make compensated models that may be easier on your wrist. I would move up from the 26 to the 19c. The 19 should be easier to control than the 26. If you go with the comp model and load it with standard 9mm ammo I think it would be an easy shooting package. When I had a 9mm the 147 grain standard loads were mild.

Then there is always another option . . . a .38 revolver.

just my two on this for what its worth which isnt much
after owning and carrying just abt every glock out there
the g19 is probably the best overall carry piece
unless you're gonna be spending alot of time in gymshorts and a tight tanktop then the g19 will conceal just as well as the 26
it has more gripping surface for better purchase on the gun
carried properly you will often forget its there
with that being said im currently carrying the newer g21sf
but i just prefer the 45 caliber

Not BATF's regs---you can thank you local congressman for the '68 gun control act where an imported pistol must meet so specs to be imported----Glock could make them here and be perfectly legal.

I do not know about the Glocks being chambered in 380 but Smith & Wesson did make a Sigma in 380 and yes it was a smaller frame with the Mag release on the sides of the Mag if I remember right.
I call my Sigma my Smith & Glock as they used the whole glock system in it.  The only real changes are the grip angle and the mag.
A novice could have seen a black "plastic" handgun and called it a Glock like I call all soda's a Coke.

Why would you want to turn a Glock into a 38 super?  It can be done but it is a whole lot easier to get one in 357 Sig that will do the same thing and faster.  And you can get it in all three frame sizes.
To turn a Glock into a 38 Super you will have the problem of making a Mag work.  But start with either a 20 or 21 and re barrel it to 38 super and you may have to change the block in the slide so the extractor can grab it.  You need the largest frame built for 45 acp or 10mm because the 38 super is longer than the 9 or 40 / 357 sig and will not fit.  Now comes the problem with trying to get a double stacked Mag to work for a semi rimmed round.  They tend to overlap and jam up double stacked mags.  You may be able to have a single stack mag made that would work but I would hate to see the bill for the first one.
If you want a 38 super get a 1911.

I was going by the comment by GSD17.  I was curious about what kind of coneversion kit would be out their to change a glock over to 38 super.  I have a 1911 in 38 super and enjoy it.

I have an RIA 1911 in 38 Super and I really love the round, more than my Glock 22 357 Sig for sure!
