Uberti Regulator
« on: December 19, 2007, 02:12:50 AM »
I was looking at an Uberti SAA clone at Cabelas that was called the Regulator.  I can not find this on the Uberti website.  I also looked at Taylor's and Cimmeron's site and did not see it.   Is this an old model?   It looked well made and I may buy it for my Christmas present.

It seems to be a continuation of the original Uberti Cattleman only with better fitting and a bead blasted finish.  Once the steel grip frames were generally introduced, the brass frames fell out of favor, since they were not authentic to the original Colts of the 'Old West'.  Since brass is cheaper, Cabela's is able to offer them at a reasonable price.  As far as I can find, they are the only company offering this model.  They are tight, well made guns for the money.  Get in gear, go get one and proclaim for all to hear "Merry Christmas to me!".

Mikedb, I have an Uberti Regulator I bought last year. It has the birdshead grip w/ the steel gripframe, 4 3/4 barrel, and in 44Spec. Seems to be a well made gun. Shoots a little to the left, but will hold a fist sized group offhand at about 15 yds.-I'm no expert shot. Was imported by American Arms before they went out of business. Hunman55

May have been an older name for the Cattleman, as Wolff springs lists the Uberti single action as a "Regulator"
