I Need Some TC Education?

I could really use some education about these single shot rifles. First of all I don't know what the difference is between the frames or anything else on the Encore and the Encore Pro-hunter. I've been looking at Browning and Kimber 7mm-08 bolt action rifles, but these TC rifles also look great and I'd love to have the ability to switch chamberings. I've had several of the cheaper, much cheaper, NEF rifles and while I liked the single shot design and the short overall length of a single shot, the NEF's accuracy wasn't as consistant as I'd like. So if you could teach this old dog a few things about these rifles I'd sure appreciate it.

The Contender is the oldest model. It is light.
The Encore is heavier and able to handle large rifle calibers.
The G2 is a new Contender model. Don't know much other than it fits the Contender barrels. The stocks won't interchange.
I like the quality and feel of the T/C line better than the Handie rifles. But it cost more.

The Contender or G2 Contender (G2 standing for second generation) Are only chambered in low pressure rounds such as .223, 30-30, 7-30Waters  etc. Stocks will not interchange between the too but barrels will. If you reload and are into wildcat rounds this opens up a lot more options.

The Encore is like a big brother the frame heavier and bigger and can be chambered in most but not all rounds. More options are available for the Encore.

If the chambering is a low pressure round I prefer the Contender because it is lighter. If high pressure chambering then it has to be the Encore.

Thanks for the information guys! I do have a few more questions. Do the Encore and Pro-Hunter share the same receiver? With companies like (you pick one) making a good living doing work on these rifles, is that work needed to attain good accuracy?

Big Blue,

The Encore and Pro-Hunter frames are just about the same. Pro Hunter is stainless and can be had with swing hammer as the Encore has to returned to the factory for it. Barrels interchange between the two. The Pro Hunter stock is slightly different too, but I think they will interchange also. (?)

Other than building your own custom barrels (you may can I cant) there is not a hole lot you cant do to the TC's yourself. I do preferr custom barrel barrels over factory. Not implying factory barrels want shoot, I do own some that do. Understanding how to load for the break actions is one step to good accuracy. Forearm fit plays a factor into it. Search the net for info on how to do trigger jobs, its not that hard.

The pro hunter frame is also offered in blued. It is engraved and has the swing hammer and there is no difference other than those.
