The Goody Bite?

Not exactly wild game, but I didn't know where else to ask this. My mother was talking about her long-passed mother (a grandmother I never knew) and said when she cut up a chicken to fry there was a "goody bite". She described it as a piece about the size of the last joint of her thumb and the chicken had only one. My mom was wondering what this piece was. It isn't the heart, liver, or gizzard. Could be just a piece trimmed and fried to make someone feel special? She remebered this from the years before my grandpa got a job in town and they still lived on the farm. This would be near Perry, Oklahoma in the mid-to-late 30's. Anyone heard of the "goody bite"? Thanks!

Sport, I bet you think I"m stalking you by now, huh?   I've never heard of "The Goodie Bite"  but the description fits the tail.  My father loves the things, but they are too fat for my taste's though.

I suspect it was the tail, too.
My mother was from Belgium. She referred to the tail on a chicken or turkey as, "the pope's nose."  
I don't know if that's a common expression, she's the only one I ever heard call it that.

as you skin a cooked chicken just above the rear quarters on the back is a nugget called the oyster it is very tasty and tender.

Thanks guys! I doubt it was the tail. Growing up where (and when) she did, I think she'd know a tail. I'll ask though and see if she remembers more....

My mom was born in the USA (Philly), moved to Detroit at 6 months (not by herself!), and grew up there. She called it "the Pope's nose", too.
