Berger Bullets on game

Has anybody ever used Berger bullets on game? On their site they show a video clip by Best of the West shooting game and they go down fast. Just wondering if it is a sales pitch or they  actually work on game.

  there was an article in one of the magazines about this. I have used target bullets on varmints with spectacular results. I do not know of any one who has used bergers on bigger game but I think he would NOT lie about their effectiveness. Walt no longer owns the bussiness from what I've been told,so ......!

An antelope shot this fall in Wyoming with a Blaser R 93 in 300 Weatherby Magnum shooting Berger 168 grain VLDs from 292 yards.  The exit wound was about 3 inches in diameter and the antelope promptly died.  I shot 3 other antelope with the same load and they died as well.

Walt may have sold the business but he is still involved in it and his son-in-law runs the company.

Also, guess what the U. S. Army uses for their sniper bullets...Sierra Match Kings.

Here is a load I haven't tried on game yet that looks promising.  After shooting this group, I loaded up another 3 rounds and shot them as well.  That group was a one holer measuring a little over 0.4 inches from edge to edge giving a center to center size of about 0.14 inches.

the magazine article was in HANDLOADER magazine a few months back. it was nothing if not informative. they hunted in new zealand for feral goats and red stag to 400 pounds. as reported nothing but one shot kills and most dropped in thier tracks. i have some friends who have tried them on deer with spectacular results. at present i have not tried them on anything larger than a groundhog but i plan on trying them in my .25-06 on coyotes and deer next fall.

Why I asked the question is I might give them a chance in the 270wsm. They said next month they will have the 0.277cal. VLD hunting bullets available in 130gr,140gr. and 150gr. They say that the 150gr. has a BC of 0.545. I will see if I could get a load developed for the 150gr. bullet that shoots well in my Remington model 700xcr. I plan on using it for deer and elk. I always take behind the shoulder shots anyway. Thanks alot for your opinions any more would be great.

I have that Berger DVD, most impressive! I also have the Handloader article rbergum95 mentions & it is very informative. I have also been reading results from various longrange forums & from people I trust & to me the results are overwhelming, enough so that I am going to load some for my M700VS/308 & hopefully harvest a WT or 2 next season. For a 30 cal 168 gr, the BC is impressive @.512.

700xcr, the 150gr. 270 info does look good, but I am getting extreme accuracy with the 140 Accubond & the BC is .496, higher than any 140 gr. presently avail. that I am aware of & for some reason that bullet has a much better BC than the BT of the same weight, which is usually not the case. Since I would not be able to push the 150 Berger as fast, I don't think it will be flatter or buck wind much better until 600++ yards, which I would not want to shoot an Elk that far with a 270 anyway, plus the Acc. is bonded. Have you tested it, just curious?

Anyway, I hope to range test the 168 Berger in late Jan, I hope my rifle likes them.

I haven't started to reload for the 270wsm yet. Been work on that. I have all the cases ready. I have been shooting factory 150gr. Winchester Power Points. So I haven't tried the Accubond. I seen the video clip on Berger's site and I was impressed on how hard the animals went down at the ranges that they were taking the shots.
