Slugs in a tamer
« on: December 28, 2007, 08:02:53 AM »
I was just sitting here thinking. Have any of ya'll ever tried shooting slugs out of your 410 Tamer? if so what slugs shot the best? I have never used slugs and have always been told by my elders around here that they would mess a smoothbore barrel up if you used them is that really the case? If someome could help me out on this it would be very helpful. Thanks

I have.  The shoot fine.  Its been a while, can't remember if they were Fed or Winchester.  I have a couple boxes of Sluggers that I want to get to the range with.  They make nice round holes.  Only trouble I had, I shot so many in a row that the barrel got hot and one got stuck.  It cooled down quickly and dropped right out after about 1 or 2 minutes.
It ain't gonna hurt it a bit to shoot slugs.

Thanks Cookie. ;) I went to Wal-Mart on the way home from hunting and picked up a box of the Winchester 3" 1/4 oz slugs. I am going to try them out in the next few days.

I haven't fired any 3" slugs through mine, so I can't speak to how they will do.  Most guys that have fired both sizes say they prefer the 2 1/2" slugs and shot shells, because they pattern better. Let us know how they do for you.

Got a chance to shot the tamer with the slugs this evening after work. They shot better than I expected they would but I do have a question for ya'll.  I shot three shots and had six holes where did the other three holes come from? Oh yeah I was shooting about 15 feet.
