444 camo syn.
« on: December 31, 2007, 07:39:14 PM »
I picked up a new Handi today.  It's a 444 with a synthetic camo stock.  I put a leupold 3x9x40 on it and intend on taking it Hog hunting soon.  It was made in 2007, so I guess it has the new twist rate so I hope it's a good shooter.  Have any of you guys seen this special run setup?  It was the first I had seen of them.  The gun shop had one of the Remington double rifle in 30-06 that was very tempting also, but it was more expensive than the Handi, rings, leupold, and 2 boxes of ammo.
This is the day that the Lord hath made!!  I will rejoice and be glad in it!!

I have not seen a camo stock on any Handi. I did buy a special run plastic stocked 44 mag. My understanding is that later this year (2008) they will be available as standard fare. I have ordered cinnamon laminated stock and fore end for it. I bought the plastic stocked one because it was $50 cheaper than the pallet wood one and I was going to replace it no matter the stock. Large gun shops have enough buying power to order special runs. This has been going on for years with different gun makers/retailers.

Picture added this morning.  Hope to get sighted in after lunch and maybe pop a deer with it this evening (last day of deer season here in the Northern Zone of Georgia).

If you look at the H&R catalog online, they are offering a turkey and waterfowl gun that has the same stock on it.

Congrats ccoorreeyy!! ;D The stock on the shotguns is the wood camo stock, same as the one on Mac's .444/fluted 270 combo.

I have both stocks, the wood camo on my 30-30, the synthetic camo on my 243 Superlight, both were bought as accessories, they're listed on the 2007 retail parts page in the FAQs.

.

Nice looking rifle there!!

PS:  I hope you have better luck in the woods today that I did this morning (down around Griffin, GA).  It was cold and extremely windy, and I froze my rear end off  :o  My Handi .280 didn't complain though - maybe I'll get her blooded next season....  :(

Ended up eating all day.  Did not get to shoot at all.   :'(

njanear, I live and hunt in Pike County just a few miles from Griffin.  It's cool to hear from somebody so close from gbo's!  I work in Griffin.
