Lyman Cast Bullet Manual ?'s

Hello Everyone. 

I bought a Lyman Cast Bullet Manual back in the early '80's.  It's listed as the 3rd edition.  Today, I wanted to check for current load listings and after doing some web searching it seems that the third edition is the version still being sold by Lyman. 

My concern is with the loads listed back then.  As we know, many loading manuals have revised their load's due to improvements with modern powders. 

Can anyone with a recently purchased the manual tell me if Lyman has updated the listed loads?

Specifically, I'm looking for current loads for the .357 158 gr #358311

My manual shows the following:        Blue Dot  8.2 - 10.9
                                                   2400  11.4 - 15.5

My Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook third edition) is dated as a 189 reprint.

The load data remains the same.

Joe, I've had mine about a year, mine's marked with all the printing dates on the inside of the front cover, it's the eleventh printing in March 2002, same data as you have.

Mine was printed in 1980.

Yep.  Contrary to popular opinion, the burn rates of canister powders remain the same as before.   Changing it would open the makers to serious legal responsibility if that were not so.  More "modern" powders simply fill gaps in the original burn rates and they carry new names to indicate that they are indeed different even tho that difference may not amount to much.

The  fact that some reload manuals have reduced suggested max charges reflect the fact that the lawyers wanted a better safety margin to keep dumber reloaders from blowing their hands off, not a change in the powders as such. 

The data for low pressure loads, cast stuff, is plenty safe as given in your manual.  There is no magic in any newer powders that would justify compiling a new manual on a regular schedule.  Use your Lyman loads with confidence.
