My 1861 Ord .Rifle,it was at a State fair and Clowns used it ,they water colored the wheels and tube.
It washed off ,but we went and shot it after the fair.

It was the day we killled the car ,bear with me i think i am getting this down.
It seems i can only get the one pic to come up ?

We killed an old Chevy that day.

Nevermind, looks like you're gettin' it.

Looks like you have some extra characters mixed in there. Check you IMG code.

You should have IMG in brackets in front of the link and /IMG at the end. Extra characters will mess up the code.

Really nice photos! Good shot of the flame in the first one.

Thanks guys ,i am jazzing ,i posted a photo.
Terry the clowns really messed her up ,but it all washed off.
The pink wheels bothered me most of all.
But they had fun with it.

You had pasted all three img links on top of each other.

Make sure you hit the return key between pictures so each one goes on a new line.

If you want to go back and see how they should look just go back to your post and click on the modify button

As DD said, put each link on a separate line. A blank line between them will make them easier to check and edit.

Thanks DD ,i will try that ,i am scanning right now ,Most of my Pics are 35mm.
Those were some old Photos ,i have some better ones where they were all in a Battery formation.
have pics of what it did to the car ,and the Bolt that hit it if you want to see them.

Terry : Fishing lures for balls, I used ,1 ounce cannon BP ,or 1/2 ounce Fg. for loads using balls.
In a gun that size the Fg worked best.
That was what Gun Smoke called a 1/3 rd scale. He still makes up 1/2 .
He made full scale guns once ,but he says he is to old to move them around any more.
Dom Carpenter makes some great guns also ,he puts a lot of love into them.
He is one of those guys that the wheels are always turning in his head.
Look at his French 75 ,that recoil system, and his brakes ,are a work of art.

Pic of the bolt hitting the Chevy ,and the bank behind it.
The engine block the bolt went through ,spent bolt is sitting on top of the valve cover.

EXCELLENT Dude!

You've learned a lot about posting in ONE session (even if it COST you a good part of the night)!
I've scanned a number of pictures that I've posted as well. If you turn the resolution up you can get incredible resolution - better than some of the best digital cameras. (We'll loose that edge in the next several years though).

By using a 35mm camera you still have the ability to use VERY fast shutter speed to catch clear crisp details of ignition and recoil.

GOOD lookin' cannons too.

Looks like the 1" bore cannon is in the gun shop - that's a heart breaker, you never leave cannons (emotionally).

I'm thinking you are clicking on the image button in the post window and then pasting in the URL from photo bucket As long as the UTL you paste from photo bucket has IMG in square brackets at then front of the link and /img in sqaure brackets a the the end you are fine and don't need to click the image button in the reply window

Here's how it should look if you paste just the copied link from photobucket.

If you click image button in the reply window and the try to paste inteh url from Photobucket it comes out like this:

One word of warning. Once you get the hang of this, it can get expensive. You will be buying digital cameras, flat bed scanners, photo shop programs and photo printers. You'll be going into fabric stores to look for green and red back ground material andf th tripods and flood lights. It can get crazy.

Well i do want to get a digital SLR , But there are so many of them and i don't know a lot about them.
Cat Whisper , You picked up on the gun store part pretty fast ,It is my neighbors store.
He wanted it in there for show when he opened a BP dept . A Texan came in and just had to have it and payed me more than i payed for it. I wish i had kept it now ,you ever do something like that ? Its like the old saying ,if you sell something you like ,pretty soon you don't have the money ,or the thing you liked.

re: digital cameras - borrow a friends; see what you like and DON'T like. Then borrow another. It shouldn't take but one or two to KNOW what to look for.

The windows, wide open floor space with what looked like cartons of ammo in the background was the giveaway.

That saying goes right along with a friend's saying, "guns are meant to be bought - period." MANY that I've sold are just memories now.

Not having a digital isn't a show stopper! Look at the detail and sharpness of the impact shots - despite the motion! Not easy with a digital.

Have any of you guys ever tried one of these ? They are a little hairy to put on but they make a big difference in getting on Target. The front blade was critical ,I leveled the Barrel by going across the trunnions ,then used a Center punch pipe level like welders use on the top of the muzzle.
Drilling and taping your expensive barrel teaches you a lot about Patience.
This one is called a ,Pendulum Hausse , it is used on a Napoleon 1857 , an Ordnance Rifle 1861 ,and a lot of the Howitzers.
it sits in a cradle while you are using it to sight in ,then you remove it to fire.
The Parrots use more of the Stadia type ,and a gunners level helps with them both ,plus they look good.

Other sights this gentleman makes ,they are all era and he can build them scaled down to 1/2 scale.
First ,is a Stadia
Second ,is a Breech sight used a lot on larger Howitzers.
Third, is a gunners level.
