Interesting site on the history of Armstrong guns
« on: January 08, 2008, 03:14:55 PM »
I found this site by accident, searching for something else.

I found it to be a very interesting read. Discussed is the history of the Armstrong rifled breechloaders and recounts of their early use in battle.

Not mentioned is the American Civil War, as this text concentrates on their development and use in Britain and New Zealand.

If you haven't already seen this, I highly recommend it.

I found that while exploring the British siege Guns...link, there are several pages related to the Armstrong gun there,
I have seen a video some years back of a gun crew drilling with one but have not found it again,  the siege gun link is worth exploring,
the Artillery gallery is three pages but while there I discovered more pages with thousands of photos from all over the world. it has turned out
to be a great study resource.

Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!
