Why are some Contender Barrel - Receiver combinations hard to open, then if you swap barrels - receivers, they open just fine? Could it be an adjustment or lack of lubrication? Some receivers work real good with any barrel! Thanks for your input!

Barrels and Frames are made within certain tolerances.  Sometimes if you try to match a set on the wrong end of the same spectrum, they will not work together.

You can send the barrel and frame back to TC.  They will change the locking lugs and do what they can to make them fit for you.  You will loose any target trigger job etc if you do this.  cost is free (except for shipping)

Another alternative is to send the gun to Jim Henry in California.  Jim will fit them for you, disassemble and relube the gun and make sure everything works perfect.  Last one he did for me cost me $20 (plus shipping).

Good luck and good Shooting.
