New to Handi's, need some suggestions

I have my eye on a 308 Survivor, and I have a few questions.  First off, the dealer wants $269, is that a fair price? I don't really "need" the heavy barrel, but the looks of the gun caught my eye. Secondly, this will be a coyote/truck gun, with the possibility of going on a hunt out west at some point. Is the 308 the gun for me? I've had 2 remington 700's in the past (222 and 270) so I'm not totally new to centerfires, but honestly, I've never shot a 308. How's the recoil in the 308 w/o recoil pad? I've made up my mind that I want a handi, just which model/caliber at this point.

I bought one, changed the stock to the Chaote Varmit setup...........mild recoil, great accuracy. Go for it!!

I had the 308 on a survivor. Recoil was a bit much with that stock. Put it on a wood stock much more comfortable to shoot. 308 is a great caliber. Enjoy

I'm not fond of the Survivor stock, but if you don't like it, you can always swap stocks, all stocks will fit it. I have the same 308 bull barrel in a set of camo lams, it's very accurate. I've been shooting a .308 Win for deer and elk for about 24yrs, it's a great elk round out to about 250-300yds, not a lot of practical  difference tween it and the 30-06.
