great load & thank you
« on: January 02, 2008, 02:31:21 PM »
this is a great site and my thanks to gray beard and his gang for running a great ship. I ask for a load that would shoot as close to the same as Hornady factory loads in 44 mag shooting the 240 grain jhp/xtp. this was way back in July and i finally got the dies and reloaded a few rounds of 24 grains of h110 behind the 240 grain hornadys after Christmas, this was the load that graybeard and most others said i should try. on new years i had the bug to try therm out, so off to the shooting valley i go. we have a lot of snow on the ground and i planned on walking 1/2 mile to shoot, so i packed light. shooting sticks, the raging bull, three paper plates for targets 12 rounds reloads 6 rounds factory. the landowner let me us his snowmobile ;D drove to the valley set the targets and went to the 100 yrd mark. I shoot a 8inch barrel with a bushnell holo site and off the bench hit paper plates at 100yrds. wow off the bench and from sticks kneeling in the snow shooting at white paper plates against white snow, are 2 diiferent games. hung three targets and shot at the first two with the reloads 6 shots at each, then the third target with the factory loads. when I got on the sled and drove to the targets to leave i was very happy to see two holes in each of the targets. I cant wait to really try them on a bench with a good rest.
thanks again fore the great site and the great info for that load.

If you have a 44 Mag, 41 Mag, or a 357 Mag and you want to
shoot jacketed bullets, H110 is the way to go.

Alliant Power Pistol works great also without magnum primers and you can work up the load from mild to wild, which you can't do with H110. Also, the charge weights are smaller, so you don't use as much (cheaper).

Sorry, just had to put in my two cents. Seriously, though, I find more and more uses for Power Pistol.
