I have just got a 36 cal round ball mold. and looking at the balls i decidd to try and use them as buck shot out of my 2 1/2 shot shells.
I could get 3 balls in the wad and loaded them not all i have to do is test them at the range.
I was thinking of using them for squirrels any thoughts??

I shot several .410 factory buck shot loads at a IPSC(?) target set at 25 yrds. wouldn't keep all three on the paper. Hitting a squirrel would take a huge amount of luck! You'd be better off using #6 shot or even #7 1/2. Theres not a whole lot of shot in a .410 load bigger shot= sparser pattern.
Just my $.02 worth. :-)

you are right about the little shot. I am using 9 shot for now most of my shots are very close. mostly from the base of the tree up. the buck shot is something fun to play with and the bigger ball you should only have to hit close to him and the shock and fragments should kill them

How much choke is in your 410?
I have some .410 HBWC that just might make super .410 slugs. They weigh right at 220 grains or 1/2 ounce so loading data is no problem. I'd cheerfully shoot them in a cylinder bore but no in anything with any serious constriction.
Be glad to sent you some to play with if you have a cylinder bore.

I just got back from the range with a batch of my home made 410 buck shot.
I loaded 3 pellets in a 2 1/2 case. removed the choke out of the 10 inch contender barrel.
My targets ( turkey head targets) where placed at 30 yards.
the first shot put 2 pellets in the kill circle of the turkey the 3 rd was off the paper. the 2 nd shot was close to the first with the last few shots I wanted to see how the did at 100 yards. the pellets heat in a stright line about 6 foot wide. this load would not be a good choice for small game but will do good to take care of bigger critters.

I thought about trying .36's also, but for self defense in my derringer. I use to use 5, 00 in a 3" hull. My S14 with c/tube in would shoot 4" "group" at 20 ft. and penetrate 2-2x8 and a 1x8. A nice short range pest load. On
