dove season ?
« on: June 29, 2008, 04:57:45 PM »
Anybody have an opinion on why we don't have a dove season in IA and do you think we will ever get one? I think it would be a good thing to have. It  would bring in more hunters from other states, which would mean more revenue for the state. Plus I think they would be fun and challenging to hunt.

Legislators won't support dove season for emotional/religious issues imho.  People someway relate doves to being a sacred bird.  Never many around here in SW Ia anyway.  The mourning doves that dominated when I was a kid have been largely replaced by eurasian dove.  Looks very similar but bigger and make different (ugly)sounds. My 2cents worth.
