Is an 18 1/2 inch barrel on a 12 ga. to short for shooting skeet? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Not the ideal length, that's for sure, but any shotgun will work. They might look at you a little funny, but it's worth a try. Most 18 1/2" barrels I've seen are cylinder bore, so at least your choke is right.

I take it you mean the game of skeet, rather than than just screwing aournd shooting at clay pigeons.  I've fooled around with my Rem 870 Express with an 18.5 HD barrel.  It's great out to about 15 yards, but it starts and stops the swing really fast.  Causes jerks, head lifts, etc., and I was convinced I was learning bad habits so I knocked it off.  Just FYI, for what it's worth.

yeah, my buddy let me try out his maverick with the 18 1/2 inch barrel, just didnt feel comfortable. The big gun shows comin up labor day weekend, Im probably gonna get me an 870 with a 26 or 28 in. barrel. cheaper at the gun show than wal mart
