Ruger Grip Frames
« on: January 29, 2008, 06:52:49 PM »
I have a Ruger Blackhawk project gun I'm working on and I want to swap out the grip frame.  Do you guys know where I can find some instructions on how to do this?  I know Brownell's has schematics.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Heavy C

Pretty easy sap.  Loosen and remove the screws and carefully take it apart watching for any small springs to fall.  there's a spring/plunbger on the underside of the frame for the cylinder latch and one in the top rear left side grip frame also.  Just looking at the schematics is plenty to see.
Just a FYI, if it's an unfinished gripframe, it'll need some fitting for the width.

Thanks BlkHawk73.  I went ahead and removed the grip frame that was on there last night.  I saw both of the springs you mentioned.  The cylinder latch spring:  I saw where if fits in the grip frame, but is there a slot or hole if fits into under the latch?
