replacement stock for LH savage 110
« on: March 21, 2008, 03:10:17 PM »
I've got a savage 110 left handed that I rebarrelled to 338-06.  It's a great shooter but the plastic stock is junk.  Does anybody know of a reasonably priced replacement?  McMillan offers one but it costs almosts as much as the gun itself.  I'd prefer a synthetic but would settle for a laminate.  Also the gun is the new model with the center feed mag. and I've not seen any stocks for this type, right or left.

You may look around for a takeoff stock from a 110GL, or a Factory Laminate stock.  You may be able to order these from the factory if you have no luck otherwise.

I took the centerfeed from my 300WM 110GL and retrofit it to an old 110CL.  And took the factory laminate I bought from another guy and put the 300WM in it.

Choate has an ultra varmint and ultra sniper type stock for heavy barrels in left hand

A lot of the other custom makers have an unholy wait period.

If it shoots great why change it out? If you want a new look I have primed and then painted a factory stock with rustoleum textured  spray paint. It turned  out real  nice and I even tiger striped it from a pattern I printed off the computer and then  cut out with an exacto knife as a stencil and it saved me a few bucks. Another option would be a laminated  Richards gun stocks  do a google search .I think they run from 100-150 in price.
