barrel weight?
« on: January 08, 2008, 08:15:52 AM »
hello all,

so does anyone know how much more a standard barrel weights vs a superlite?  and the same with a bull barrel?  also about how much could I exspect to pay to have a barrel cut down and recrowned?

Thanks
Carl

I,m taking a shot in the dark here but I think they're 3 different contours on the standard 22" barrel not counting the superlite.  Even those will vary by the bore size with the largest bore having the lowest weight on any given contour.  The contour being how much the barrel tappers down from the fore arm to the muzzle.  Sight heights vary on these also.  The higher the sight the smaller the muzzle.  We really need to have a weight and measures sticky so we will know what our finished gun will weigh when ordering different barrels.

Barrel muzzle sizes are listed in the FAQs, as are stock weights, if anyone wants to remove the scope from their barrels, weigh em and post the results, have at it. ;)

Great idea here but in reality unless we all used the same scale the weights would vary on the same barrel.

Not necessarily if the scale is accurate, but barrels aren't identical, you can see that yourself by measuring the muzzle of any two barrels of the same chambering, chamber swell diameters will vary some too. ;)
