Got my new 45-70, trigger questions
« on: January 11, 2008, 12:47:46 AM »
I finally got my 45-70 handi-rifle from Walmart yesterday.  Good looking little rifle, can't wait to get it out today to shoot.  I do have a question regarding the trigger.  The trigger pull is unexpectedly heavy - I have a Topper shotgun that has a great trigger and I was thinking that the rifle trigger would be comparable but it isn't even close.  Does H&R use different triggers for shotguns and rifles?  If not, would it be possible to swap one for the other?  I don't want to do anything that creates a dangerous gun.

If you don't want to do anything dangerous then don't screw around with swapping triggers.Shoot the 45/70 before you decide that the trigger is unsuitable.Just feeling it at home is no way to gauge it.
The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70..it's almost a religion.

Jpuke,
I did a trigger job on all of my Handi's per the Help section here. It
was easy,it made a world of difference, and it didn't cost anything.
Check it out.

Trigger jobs are easy, I've done about 20 all came out great and I certainly am not a gun smith.
