BRNO magazine length
« on: November 21, 2002, 01:37:47 PM »
I also posted this on the gunsmithing forum.  I have 2 CZ BRNO actions that I want to make into a 30-06 and a 338-06.  The SAAMI length of both rounds is 3.34" OAL.  The problem is the magazine length of the CZ is only 3.28" to 3.30" OAL.  Is this simply finding a magazine capable of holding 3.34" shells (06 size) plus a little feed ramp modification or is it more involved?  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Whitetail:  I think that when a large ring Mauser is rebarrelled for a longer cartridge a longer magazine is installed.  I'm pretty sure these are almost standard items that you could probably get from Brownells.  I would think that if you get the right length magazine you wouldn't have to worry about feed ramp modification.

Sorry for the delay in responding.  Hope this helps.  Mikey.
