Firestorm 1911
« on: January 14, 2008, 05:00:04 AM »
Does any one have any knowledge on this 1911 clone. I just saw a for sale in the local paper for one with a Taurus 85 for $400 for the pair.

Is this a fair deal? I don't need a 38, but I could use a 1911 clone.

No firsthand knowledge, never saw one, and don't know anyone who has. But there's a lot I haven't seen! A quick search did provide some info on them. Here's one of the links:

My general understanding is that the Firestorm 1911 is most likely a Llama 1911 --  I could be wrong here but that what it looks like....

SGS importers used to import both Bersa and Llama firearms.  Eagle imports now seems to handle the Bersa label but SGS imports them under the Firestorm logo.  That being the case I would assume the Firestorm 1911 (which is imported by SGS) is a Llama since I haven't heard of Bersa building a 1911 pistol.  I have never owned one, but what I have heard is the Spanish built Llama firearms have been very hit or miss in the past -- I would personally have more faith in it if it was built by Bersa -- yes I know South American but the 2 I have have been nothing but reliable.  That said if it is a Llama built firearm you could end up with one of those "hits" out there and have a good firearm....or it may be a "miss" and be an absolute dud....

New suggested retail for the Firestorm ranges from $431 to $481 depending on the model.

Don't know if this helps at all, but it's a little info....

Thanks guys, I decided to pass on this gun. I got on some forums and found problems, especially with the safety. Seems that some of these guns will fire with the hammer cocked and the safety on. Not my idea of fun.
