Timing problems on Ruger revolvers?
« on: January 17, 2008, 10:16:17 AM »
I know that Colt and Smith and Wesson DA revolvers over the use of thousands of rounds can loose their timing.  I used to have a Smith and Wesson Model 28 N frame that was showing some wear on the knobs on the end of the cylinder, still shot good after 20 years of use before trading it off.

I bought a new in the box Ruger GP 100 in 2003 that has seen some use, it is clearly a strong design.  I also have a Ruger Single six and it also appears to want to last forever.  Bill Ruger put an emphasis on strength with his guns.  Has anyone ever had a Ruger revolver loose its timing and have to have work done on it?

Thanks.

I have not heard of any. If you think yours may be out of time there are some simple tests you can perform to see if this is happening.

I have two GP100's. One is 19 yrs. old and the other is almost 10 yrs old. Both seem to still be perfect. Fast becoming my favorite of the wheelguns.
