Shot the VTR today.
« on: September 07, 2008, 03:29:27 PM »
Well, I got a few shots off today from my bench.  I loaded 168gr Berger on 41gr of 4064 and all I can say is DANG!.  One hole 3 shot groups at 100.  I also, purchased a used Savage 308 with a bull barrel and it loves this same load.  Only problem the Saveage needed the bullet seated back a little more.  Both rifles were giving me one hole groups at 100.

It was a good day.  Looks like the VTR is going hunting with me this year!!

What OAL were you using for the VTR?

Since both 308's liked that load I would like to see the complete rundown, brass, primers, OAL, etc.
May be one of those special loads.
Thanks for sharing

2.88

Only problem is that it is so long you can only shoot one round at a time.  The round is too long for the mag.  I worked on a load that will fit in the mag but not tested.  Looks like a OAL of 2.82 will fit in the mag but will see how it shhots.

The load was OAL 2.88, Nosler brass, Fed 210m primers
