Sure, just enter your search criteria, then uncheck Check All, then hit Choose a board to search in, or search all and select the forum(s) you want to search. You can also reduce the date range to less than 9999 if you're looking for a specific post made just recently by a user or to limit the hits.

HAHAH BOY sometimes I feel stupid .... I didn't even see the green search tab I have been using the "Google" search above that and of course clicking  the GBO button. Thanks Quick I guess it would help if I opened my eyes and looked around

Works fine for me, I just searched for "NEF" with all forums selected, got 8 pages of hits, the max allowed. You may have done it when there was a bot attack, we're still using the old server in conjunction with the new server, however that works, at least until Matt finishes up, so that may be the issue, it bogged down this am, but came right back after resetting the old server. We had over 400 users/guests on earlier and it was running real smooth, searches and all, that many on just the old server and the forum would be brought to a stop. :o

I'll try to remember to ask Matt, he's gotta do some more teachin and I have to do some more learnin later tonight!! ;D I suspect it will be one of the last options to be turned on, he wants to make sure the new server is running good for a while before he does much more from what he told me today.

I have had the same error message as Larry a couple of times this afternoon.  And as recently as about a half hour ago.

The search feature is GREAT !!!!

I haven't had it at all this afternoon, did this am tho, but I wouldn't if I'm resetting the HTTP(old) server. :D  When I reset the server, I have to stop it first, then you'll get a page can't be found or the SMF database can't be reached....I think. :'(

Tim, does the search being enabled have anything to do with the site running so sloooooow and not
even loading up sometimes? Are the new servers really up and running, this slooooowly?....<><....:)

I think so, at least for now until Matt completes the transfer so the entire operation is on the new server, right now part of it is still on the old and slow server and that's the one that is causing the problem during heavy traffic. If everyone limits searches to one or two forums at a time, that should help in the mean time.  The database still isn't indexed, that may need to be done before all is well, when the database was on the old and slow server, it couldn't handle it, on the new server it should be able to complete the indexing.

Well dang LOL just when i figured out where it is and how to use the search it is not there LOL it is around 9:40 PM here in TN so I dont know it may be down right now I will check tomorrow.... Take care I am going to bed ....

Matt had to turn the search off last night until the almost 800K messages were indexed which I finished up this afternoon, it makes the search work much faster when indexed, kinda like the difference between trying to find something in a book with or without using the index!  :D We're running totally on the new server now, so it's much faster, and he'll be turning the search back on as soon as he gets the rest of the new software installed, although he had a family medical problem to deal with this afternoon, I'll let him share that if he wants to, hopefully it went well and he'll be on tonight to tie up some loose ends.  ;)

The bad news is all avatars and attachments will have to be re-uploaded to the new server, that's why any previous attachments and offsite avatars are now missing. You can upload the avatars in your profile.

Matt was still at the hospital with Heather when I spoke to him a bit ago. He said he'd be heading home in 20-30 minutes and it would only be him and the new grandson Wyatt tonight. He will try to do a bit he said mostly trying to fix the banners I think. Dunno if he will turn search back on tonight or not. Heather isn't supposed to get home until Monday as far as I know so his schedule will be messed up all weekend and to add to that we're supposed to get the most snow we've had in ten years over night and into tomorrow.
