Taurus trouble
« on: January 17, 2008, 05:20:49 AM »
I recently bought a Taurus Gaucho through Auction Arms and here is my story:

I bought the Gaucho (new) on AA in late December. The Gaucho arrived and did not function - cylinder stop stayed in the locked position. I sent it to Taurus on Jan 4 - they received it on Jan 7. I called them on Jan 8 to see when I could expect it back. The snotty customer rep told me that it would sit on the shelf for 6 - 8 weeks before they could get to it. I was pissed and called back to talk to the customer service manager. Chewed him out good and was told he would try to expedite the repairs. I called again on Jan 15 and was told the Gaucho was shipped back on Jan 11 - It was sitting at FEDEX. Haven't shot it yet but it seems to be fine. It appears that barking at the customer service manager may have helped.
By the way, the deal I bought it from is Commonwealth Arms in Virginia. He was great to deal with and offered to replace the Gaucho or have it repaired - my choice. He also offered to pay the shippng for the repairs as Taurus refused to.

If I was you, I would have bought a Ruger Vacquero, it should be just fine out of the box, tough, and if a problem, Ruger is better to deal with.

That is OK advise between the Vacquero and the Taurus< mayby I have a 45 Taurus and it is fine out of the box and I can buy two Tauruses for the price of one Vacquero. I even made a mistake and loaded some rounds with Ruger only loads and went through 24 before it dawned on me the recoil shouldn't be that bad. The only damage it did was to my right hand trigger finger and middle finger knuckles. Would I recommend those loads for the Gaucho? Not at all, only told you so you know the Taurus is a good gun and I am sorry that you had problems with yours.
Attached targets were shot this morning at 25 yds, not great but as good as I shoot a revolver.
