I've been using the .25 ACP conversion in my Omega for quite some time now. When I first started using it, some of the brass seemed too long and caused the action to be pretty hard to close. On occasion, I would get a piece of brass that would have the mouth of the case sort of bulged and rolled under after firing. To try and keep this from happening, I took some of the brass and stroked the mouths back and forth across a file laying on the workbench. I trimmed them this way to a certain length where the action seemed to close more easily, something close to the original breechplug with a 209 in it. I'm sure these weren't cut off square by any means, but they seemed to work. The only drawback was that I was getting a little bit of blowback, apparently from not having a good seal against the breechplug.
Do any of you have to trim your .25 ACP brass for a better fit and if so, what is your means of trimming it? I've not had any luck finding a brass trimmer for the .25 ACP. My RCBS TrimPro will not trim brass that small.
If you don't trim, what brand of brass is the most consistent in length and where are you purchasing it?
I like the ACP conversion a lot and have no intention of giving it up, but I would like to know how some of the rest of you are dealing with this. Thanks!
