Military Mauser Replacement Barrels...Which one?

Replacement military mauser configuration barrels for M-98 mausers are listed in two configurations...Gewehr 98 Military and 98K Military .  What is the difference? How do you know which one applies to which mauser?  Brazilian 7x57?  Yugo 8mm mauser?

I believe the Gewehr is the longer barrel at 29" whereas the K98 barrel is at 23".  In addition, the Gewehr barrel may come in two bore diameters, .318" and .323".  Both have the military steps for cooling. 

I could be wrong so hold a bit for additional or better information from some of the others....  HTH.  Mikey.

Where are you looking for 98 barrels?  I found a barrel for my german 98k at numrich gun parts.  A few years ago they had "like new" in "Excellent condition" used barrels from Czech mausers in 8mm for only $37.  My used barrel did look like brand new with very heavy rifling in the bore.  The only problem was the hand guard was different. The barrel went right in and locked inplace and my headspace was on the "GO GAGE" and it wouldn't close on the NO GO GAGE so it was perfect.  Then you need to heat the rear site and turn it into place and also turn the front site too.  I'm not sure what numrich gun parts has left in 8mm barrels.

If your looking for an orginal 7mm barrel i think that sarco had them in lots of 5.  Some were bad but you may find a good one thats the chance we take.
