Initial investment to reload 30-30 winchester for g2. Estimated cost to get started ? I guess the cheapest route all new? What do you need? Is  it practical to buy used?  I do not have a clue all help/advice  appreciated in advance. Estimated cost per bullet?  The only thing I do own is some brass.

Is this the only one you have or would you plan to get more rifle or pistol calibers?
if this is all it may be more cost effective to just buy them.
Don't get me wrong you can save a lot but you can spend a lot to get started also.

With out looking in my load book: you can buy 30-30's for $12.00 at walmart
you can reload for around $5.00 ball park of course bullet price,powder etc all play a part
in the cost I am just tossen some quick samples out not 100% cost.
so you would save like 7 bucks a box, if you did say a weatherby that cost 40 bucks a box you
could reload say a 270 weatherby for like 10 bucks a box this would save you $30.00 a box
big difference. yes the more you do the more you save.

Sounds like you don't have any buddies that reload as this sure would help you learn.
I don't want to get into another flame war on makes etc but beginners are the ones that
need top gear to learn but often go for cheap and have problems.

The lee press kits will work at like $70.00 but the scale and powder measure are real cheap.
rcbs has kits at around $200.00
not sure offhand but I think the dies are separate cost $25-$30 ball park
reloading manuals to read the how to load would help at this point plus you will need them to load anyway.

also used is fine as long as its good and not wore out but as I said before this is an area that a beginner would
 not know if some thing was bad , do you see what I mean.

the reloading video by sierra with G David  Tubb would be first on my list for you to get and watch
it takes you from beginner to more advanced levels step by step how to reload this is a very good video
it is like 4 to 6 hours long.
HIGH POWER RIFLE RELOADING is the name of it.

I would at least get the video and get your feet wet on this if you can't find any one to watch and learn.

I would hate to gather a list of you need this ,this,this and you get all the goodies and excited and set up and
not do things right.

PLEASE GET THE VIDEO AND OR BOOKS AND LEARN ON THIS BEFORE YOU START GETTING RELOADING TOOLS
then you can come back and ask should I get this or this etc.
Don't get me wrong on this GBO has a lot of people that would love to help you with any and all your questions
you would like to know about this and by all means if you don't know something ASK! the dumbest question
is one that was not asked.

I have to agree with Kurt on the cost effectiveness of reloading for one cartridge vs. multiple.  More is better.  I would recommend reading the latest Lyman reloading manual and then re-reading it.  Not only does it have your 'basic' information on the various cartridges but it also has a section on loads for a closed breech type action like the Contender.

Thanks for the info the only thing I have reloaded is shotgun shells years ago very easy.  I have a 300wsm   I saved all brass for it.  Also I have a 44mag that I saved brass for.  I also save brass for 9mm glock.  This my first TC G2 /45 cal muzzleloader it shoots great. Kind of confused as what I would  what to do with the 44 cal is a super red hawk  and the 300wsm is a model 70 winchester both are great shooters but I have the TC urge bad to sell those and buy comparable barrels for the TC.  At his point I want all G2 what would be comparable to the 300wsm? I used 30-30 for example seems to be real popular and had one since I was a kid.  Also I will be needing help on configurations will all barrels interchange with my carbine stock and forearm or what do I have to do?  I know the cart is getting before the horse but TC/  G2 is exciting to me so patience please.

You would start to save after a point if you reload the ones you list.

the G2 is not rated for the mag calibers.
The encore is but, some say and T/C I believe that the short mags are are not recommended.
I am sure someone will have more detail on that.

The for arm will fit if you use the same barrel taper as you have.
By this if you use a 30-30 heavy or bull barrel it would not fit
If you used a 22 barrel with the same length and taper as the 30-30 you have  it would

Lee press/Kit or should I get RCBS/Kit or used if someone is upgrading?  Still not sure what all parts to buy after looking at Lee website?

My first kit was an RCBS Pardner kit and it did a fine job. Buy the ABC's of Reloading book and a Speer, Sierra or Hornady Reloading book (may get a book with your kit). That will get you started. There is a wealth of technical info via the net and these forums. Always research and ask if unsure. Lee is good for some items but I recommend an RCBS or Redding over them for a basic single stage press.
If you have the extra money consider the RCBS Rock Chucker kit.
