Accuracy of 1885

What kind of accuracy can you expect out of the 1885 or B78 rifle in .243?

Every one of the LW and HW I've owned or been associated with has been superbly accurate. My LW 243 was a consistent .4" to .8" shooter with most every load I tried in it and many were in the 1/4" and less range. I have a friend in PA who still has one and his is also superbly accurate. I've owned LWs in .22 Hornet and .243 and my friend in PA owns .223 and .243 and I've had a pair of HWs in .45-70 and shot many others belonging to other folks. They just plain shoot.

Thanks Bill. I am a sucker for single shots and the Browning has such nice lines. It's good to hear that they shoot well also. Next purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a target I recently shot with a new Winchester Low Wall in 17 Mach II. 5 shots at 25 yards. 2nd try at posting pic.

I have several 1885's. I have a 17Mach 2 that shoots about like G Curtis"s. My 223 shoots 1/2' GROUPS WITH MY RELOADS, 1' with most factory loads. My 270WSM  does real well to. They are great rifles. I used to be a Ruger No 1 fan but went with the 1885's because my friends that had them could all outshoot me.

Do they still make them in 22 Hornet?

BTW- did they ever make a lever action in Hornet?

I would like a lever action 22 Hornet  ;)
