Question is, is a Super 16 (16 1/4") barrel legal for handgun use? I have a Super 16 in .223, can I use it as a handgun, in the proper frame, or should I relegate to "ugly" carbine use? Tried search and could not answer my question.

There is no limit to the long length of a pistol barrel. Even a 23" barrel is legal by ATFE standards! What dio the LOCAL regs say about a long barreled handgun? Some states have a minimum length for hunting so take that as a guide.
