the model seven was not released until 1983. I feel it is around that time, it has the older style bolt handle, w/o the checkerng on handle ball, just smooth round.

Here's one for all of you to drule over. I have my grandfathers model 700 that he bought new in '63!!! Built in May it has a 6.6x20x50 Simmons scope with A/O on top. Serial number of 53xxx, in extremly fine shape, and is my pride and joy that will someday be passed on to my own daughter or grandkids. Very cool!!!

i like older guns and always check serial  numbers and proof marks. the remington society page has good info but its not always correct.
it will give you a start point but at times, its way off or completely wrong.
the best and most reliable way to get a manufacture date, original configuration or other data is to call remington.
better still send them an email with make, model, serial numbers and any questions you want answered and a tech will get back to you.
it usually takes about 2 days.  you can contact them from the remington website at the "contact us" link.
