« on: January 26, 2008, 01:53:05 AM »
I also posted this on H&R/NEF muzzleloaders... not trying to "SPAM" things up, just offering for general information and discussion:

Anyone hear about this yet?

Ain't that the truth!  I think that the cost of a pound of 777, cleaner (other than water) and the time invested is still a bargain compared to the price for a 10oz can of this stuff.

Its already been discussed. I am looking forward to trying it out.
The sportsman lives his life vicariously. For he secretly yearns to have lived before, in a simpler time. A time when his love for the land, water, fish and wildlife would be more than just part of his life. It would be his state of mind

That's for sure!  However, compared to the price of a new smokeless powder rifle or barrel, it is pretty cheap.

I don't know that they have the record but their not far from it at $30. I paid around $30 for a pound of Black Mag 3 a couple of years ago at Cabellas. Then again that was a pound of powder not just 10 oz. At less than 70 grains by weight for 100 grains by volume it works out to close to the same amount of shots as a pound of real black powder. Maybe your right on that most expensive thing.

I will try some for sure but it needs to be more competitively priced if they want me to continue buying it. That is unless it beats the crap out of all the other powders I've tried which I doubt it will. If $30 is the retail price it should be available for more like $23 to $25 at places like Sportsmans Warehouse and the like. The article quotes $24 for 777 and I get it for under $20 most of the time, I haven't checked the prices in the last month or so so they may have gone up.

It's better to shoot for the sky and come a bit short than to shoot for the ground and hit every time. After all, the ground is just a place to start, the sky's the limit.

I'll pay it without batting an eye if it works as advertised.
