Well, I had a bad experience this past November with Winchester Power Points in the 150 grain loading. I was shooting my Browning A-Bolt in .30/06 (nearly identical ballistics with the .308) and I hit the buck I was shooting at right behind the shoulder. The doe that had been with him ran a circle and came right back where they'd been standing together and I shot her, too. I went to find the deer almost immediately and found the buck after a few minutes lying against a tree, looking straight at me. I walked toward him and he made a growling noise and went to stand up. That's when I shot him with my Ruger SP101 in .357 magnum to put him down for good.
Then I went after the doe after a half hour of dragging this buck. I found her further away and still very much alive. When I walked up to her, she began kicking at me but couldn't get up. I put the barrel on her forehead and pulled the trigger. Now, upon skinning these deer I found an entrance hole but no exit hole. I did not look for the bullets when I field dressed these deer but I was mad because of the poor performance of the bullets. All I can say is that the bullets did not perform as expected. The shot was 150 yards on these two deer. On opening day two days prior to shooting these deer, I shot a doe with a bullet from the same box of ammo and there were two steps taken and down she went. Exit hole was found. Maybe the two bullets I used to shoot the two deer on the third day of the season were just a couple of bad bullets, I don't know but I know the deer I killed in 2006 didn't move much and I used Federal Fusion bullets. I'll be going back to them.
