just bought 14'' 45 - .410 barrel with vent rib was wondering is there any way to put on sights instead of bead? is the 45 barrel usually pretty accurate? does 410 do ok with rifling what can i expect it also has choke

I have never fired 45 loads from mine, just the 410s. They would be real good for snakes and small vermin. Be sure and REMOVE the choke if your going to shoot 45s. KN

thats all i bought mine for was 410 just kinda courious about 45 probably wont ever shoot one in it .mostly just had to have one now trying to figure out what its good for. the had to have a barrel sickness

I installed a B-Square shotgun vent rib scope mount on my Contender and mounted a Tasco Red-dot sight on it..it works with both the .410 and the .45 LC side of things. Mine loves the 300 grainers and I wouldn't be afraid to try a whitetail at 75 yds with the combination...and yes it is great for snakes.BTW..mine is a 14".

thanks spinafish i would think it would be more accurate with a red dot than bead and that is what i was really wondering not going to hunt with 45 have 44 for that but comforting to know if i need to i can remove choke and hit something at even 50 yds it dont take much for me to feel undergunned with 410. there is a few hogs where i squirrel hunt i wouldnt be afraid to shoot one with 45 i think this could be one of the most versitile barrels again thanks. also do i need to install bigger screws in rib

Yes..my barrel had the rather petite flat topped screws and it changed those to a screw with a much beefier head. I believe this setup is just the ticket for the vent ribbed barrel..

Just patterned my 16" barrel this weekend with 4's, 6's and 7 1/2's. At thirty yards it is pathetic. At 20 yards it might kill a squirrel with the 6's or 7 1/2's if you are lucky.

It does work pretty good for skeet though, that wide spread out pattern is a plus there.

I find the smaller the shot the better the pattern..9shot 2 1/2" shells pattern the best from my gun,but when shooting crows or squirrels I go with 7 1/2". I believe the bad patterns can be contributed to the rifled barrel..the shot charge and wad are spinning towards the muzzle and suddenly are stopped by the straight flutes in the choke and out fly the wad and shot..not conducive to normal "good" shotshell patterns. I have a Fox BSE double barrel that is choked FULL/FULL and it doesn't do a great job either!

i think the crows are gonna be a blast because they are pretty easy to call 14'' barrel will make it interesting.

I noticed you said that the 2 1/2"ers shoot the best. Have you ever tried the 3"ers. I always shoot the 3"ers, maybe I am missing out on the best load here.

yes..I use the 3" ers for hunting,but the 2 1/2 AA and Remington Premiers seem to pattern better..could be because the extra care used in putting together the skeet grade shells and the hardened shot probably makes a big difference also.I have a yard full of mature pecan trees (14) to be exact and in the fall when those nuts start maturing,every crow in my county shows up to feast and I just have a ball blasting them. Don't know what to do with the carcasses though,even my cats won't eat them!!!
