shank size?
« on: February 06, 2008, 06:22:22 PM »
hello i am looking at a 270wsm savage at a local shop.  i was thinking of this as an action to build on for diff caliber.  How do i determine if this is the larger shank size which would make it harder to get other barrels to fit. or it it is the normal shank size.  Thanks in advance.  Don.

The large shank barrels have a noticable step down just in front of the barrel nut.  Larry
A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.

Thank you very much, that should be easy to distinguish.  Don't even have to measure.  Thanks don.
