I thought coyote hunting was hard?

In all my 30+ years of hunting I have not one time went for the sole purpose of hunting coyote.  I have always wanted to try it but had other game that caught my interest.  Well, I decided to try it and purchased a wireless Pray Master call and set out this weekend.  I wanted to have some kind of movement so I took one of my hunting arrows and tied two turkey feathers to it and stuck it in the ground next to the call.  The wind provided plenty of movement.  Setup and 200 yards downwind.  After about 30 mins I had a coyote come in running.  Bang, flop, dead.

I have talked to many coyote hunters to realize I got real lucky and I am hooked!!!

Just hope I didn't get spoiled.

Congrat on the kill.  I tried to break into yote calling after hunting with a veteran mouth blown hunter.  Third outing called a pair.  Went several more times scored again.  Thought I was in like flin, that said I am in on a two year dry spell.  Now I don't get out but a few times a year and a day with time makes for a day to hunt rather than the perfect day.  I own a johnny stewart tape caller I use on crows but my old hunting buddy assured me mouth blown is the way to go.  Maybe I need to try my electric?    There will be good and bad but once infected with coyote fever your stuck with it.  Staring out the side window and seeing what looks like a coyote while on road trips.  Drving back country roads to see them running, buying howler's and going out howling after dark in places you can hunt to get an idea of numbers and hang outs.   Your screwed, enjoy it, its a good thing.  SN

I have not hunted for as long as you wareagle, but I am in the same boat.  Last year I had a coyote around the house, but did not believe it could be in SE Pennsylvania.  Upon a litte searching online and this forum I found it could be the culprit for my neighbors dead lap dog and some other findings around the property. I put out a simple call I made with an old laptop and a speaker.  Got him in about 150 or less and bang.  That was it. 

Point being I think it was lucky to get him in about 2 or 3 tries in a two week period. I have tried on other farms around me in different settings, but have not gotten another around here.  Either it was luck or there are just not many to be had here.  I really want to go a little further west as soon as I get a chance.
