I know this is a "new" answer to an old (1 year ago) question, but I see it on many of the gunboards. The "new" answer is:
Bill Goforth (the author of THE book on Iver Johnson, now in its Second Edition) will publish THE book on H&R Firearms, their history, identification and specifications for every known model of handgun, shotgun and rifle - the book will be in the book stores around mid 2008. This book has been in the making for the past 8+ years and will be the First comprehensive publication dealing with H&R firearms of all commercial and some military issue types. I'll post back when the issue date is confirmed by the publisher. ALSO - the 29th Edition of the "Blue Book of Gun Values" by S. Fjestadt will have a newly revised section listing the models of firearms identified so far, along with some keys to ID'ing and newly researched and up-to-date valuations. Anybody that is interested in knowing about H&R Firearms will get a real kick out of both of these publications and for the first time, will have some real world information about the many, many models and variations within models. This new Book will be so up-to-date that an uncatalogued and previously unknown model of "Shell Extracting" manual ejecting, hinged frame revolver just discovered last week (late Jan. 2008) will be included.
