Fit and Finish of New Pardners
« on: January 29, 2008, 12:15:22 AM »
I spotted 3 20ga Pardners, new ones, on the rack at Gander today.  Two were the 07 Models with the blued receivers.  They seemed to have a much smoother action with better fit and finish than the older one sitting beside them.  It had a case hardened receiver.  That's the first time I noticed that the new models had blued receivers.  I checked the catalog and that's the way they are pictured there, too.  Are they doing away with the case hardened receivers?  I will miss them, if they are.  I have been fortunate to find some that have been nicely done in case hardened....

My 28 ga. is in at Cabelas, so if it's of new manufacure, I'll let you know if it's made that way also. I'll check the rack at the store as well. Not too many stores around here that stock much from NEF/H&R though.

My new 20 ga is wonderfully finished. The bluing is dark and smooth, stock is synthetic so can't comment on it other than to say it fits well and works like a stock should. Action and trigger are both smooth and crisp. Compared to my 10 ga that is much older I can only say that the bluing seems darker than it used to be.

Improved quality... hmm, that's a trend I hope continues under the new regime.

I sure do like how well my 410 slugger and now my 28ga. are finished up! But I will say this. It would be great if H&R remade their old model 58 topper, or even their old 410 monitor. Have any of you ever seen or maybe owned one of these old beauties? scout4<><

Made the trip to Cabelas yesterday and came back with my 28 ga. Mine has an HX serial number and smooth finished blue as well.
