I am fortunate in that my deer hunting area is just across the road from my office. Deer season is long over but rabbit season is still open and periodically some people bring their beagles out to hunt for rabbits as this is pubic land. I really enjoy opening the office window and listening to the pact of about 4 or 5 beagles running rabbits. It is a real downer when the hunters shoot and put an end to the music. It has been 50 years since I have had a beagle but I still enjoy listening to them run. It is a shame that in our part of Missouri the habitat has changed so much that the small game such as rabbits and quail have almost disappeared. Watching and listening to good dogs work is a real treat.
