I guess the first question would be Why rebarrel? Most 541s models shot very very good, usually under 1 inch groups at 100 meters were easily done. If I were going to spend 4 to 500 bucks rebarreling a rifle for silhouette I think I would spend about $10 and get a NRA Silhouette rule book and that will give you most of the answers on weight, length and taper allowed or at least call the silhouette dept and ask some questions. Like the other poster said if you are just going to use it for the action get an old 581 and cut and whittle on that. I did that years ago and put a Hart barrel on a 581 to make a standard rifle and it shoots great, but the originial 581 would shoot under an inch at 100. Some people even put some Anschutz triggers on them but you can re work the rem trigger and get them down to 4 or 5 ounces. Other answers you were looking for: blue or stainless OK Length 26 but that is to long for a rimfire, Hunter barrel has to be tapered. weight of rifle 8 1/2 lbs with scope, rings and mag. Hunter trigger 2 lbs.
