Jacketed .45-70 bullet for boar
« on: December 15, 2002, 08:45:08 PM »
I am going to hunt boar again in Tennessee this spring, but this time with my Marlin 1895. I've developed a very accurate load using a cast (Lee mold) 340 grain bullet that I make from a blend of wheel weight metal and tin solder... However, I am curious to know if anyone on here has any particular jacketed bullet for the .45-70 in this class rifle that they like for game such as medium to large boar...?? Thanks Dave
I want to finish well
I want to end this race
Still leaning on HIS AMAZING GRACE

Rem. 405, if still available through Cabela's, etc. are a real cheap solution that works on elk.  The Alaska Bullet Works 400 if you need something tougher.  Barnes and Hornady also have reasonably priced bullets that will work.
