Completed Coehorn.
« on: April 16, 2020, 04:58:38 PM »
I bought the barrel about a month ago, and finally finished it. It's golf ball bore. The barrel is properly chambered. The bed is 1x4 oak boards that I laminated together. The through-bolts are 3/8 inch threaded rods. Handles are cast iron. The steel Fox balls (yes, I still have some!  ;D ) weigh about a pound each. I haven't shot it yet, these are the "glamor shots".Thanks for looking.JeffG

Nicely done Jeff.  Like the handles, nice touch.

I don't think have any of the fox balls left.

Looks really nice Jeff.

Thanks Jeff.  Rotometals have all my molds in correct for windage sizes. I have a bunch zinc round ball.

The steel Kings balls work good in mortars if you can find them in the  correct size.   That's the problem no popcan or golf ball sizes.     For cannon we don't want steel.  There is some concern about  steel beating up your bore.  The bigger concern is how much steel tends to ricochet when it his something solid down range.  It is scary at times.
