I've got some 320gr hard cast SSK style projectiles from Penn Bullets.
I've been loading them with 17.0gr of 296 in a Redhawk[20.0gr =flattened primers,sticking cases].Recoil is tolerable but not pleasant.
Periodically I do a"reality check" i.e.do I really need to use this particular load??
Any thoughts/opinions/experience on uses for this load?

Closest thing I got is a 21.5gr of 296 pushing a hard cast 290gr WFP. I get 1350fps from it and accuracy is great from my SBH. I don't have any case problems but this load does rock.

I have a 320 LBT LFN GC that seats in the case at the same depth of a 240 thus I am able to obtain 1400 fps from it out of my SRH. The cases don't stick but the primers are a bit flat. I wanted a 100 + yard deer bullet and it does the job! Puts a golfball sized hole clean through em and they don't go far. Shot a yote with one and it was like you dropped a truck on him.

I have killed a dear and a bear with a 340 lfn with 19 grians of 110 it gives about 1200 fps and kills real well

Thanks for the feedback.My RH is a 5.5"
The nice thing with it and a SRH, is their longer cylinders.I'm able to seat the projectile out,so O.A.L.=1.800",and hopefully keep pressure within acceptable levels.With these heavy projectiles,I heavy roll crimp at the 4th station of my press.

I am shooting the Lyman 429650 that weighs in at approximately 315-320 grains with the check in place. I am shooting it in a SRH (9.5 'er) using 19.5 grains of H-110 and a CCI-350 primer. I am using a heat treated alloy of 2-1 (ww-#2) at a BHN of around 30, with only the check sized to 0.430". Velocity is 1258 fps and accuracy is <3.0" at 100 yards from my bench. Most groups at 50 yards are in the 1.0-1.25" range. It will rattle my 5.5"x11" steel pendulem at 150 yards all day long from a good bench rest. A dang accurate shooter. Good-luck...BCB

I use a LBT 300gr LFN, casts at 315grs. 22 grs of 296 chrono's 1875fps out of my 15" bull barrel.

We've got big rabbits here in central Texas.

This load works very well on whitetails also.
If it walks behind a tree, I've still got him. :grin:
