I sure hope it's a joke. The only thing that device would accomplish is damage to the gun when it gets dropped. Either that or an accidental discharge. This is even more ridiculous than micro-stamping.

I wouldn't mind putting it on my table at the gun show next to the "Please don't touch without permission" sign, of course the first person shocked will go get his buddies and have them pick it up who then will get their buddies to do it and so on, of course you would get plenty of traffic to your table.

What the hell happened to parenting?

If people RESPECTED guns, instead of FEARING them, we woudl solve a whooooole lot of problems pretty quick.

Corbanzo: (1) - Yep, that will work for the anti-gunners. (2). Parenting - when by the wayside when they began inventing devices like that - they surrender their authority to what seems to be an effective gizmo - like discipline in schools; and (3) it ain't the gun, it is the right of others not to havve their 'stuff' manhandled by every nosey dope who comes along. You are correct about this sort of "stuff" leading to the demise of what once was called common manners; anything but common these days. I am constantly reminding my children of the rule; "If something is not yours, leave it alone".

That's for sure...But, quality parenting is not what it used to be...There are still plenty of good parents out there doing the right thing and I usually don't see them in my line of work...The ones I do see are the ones who think that the police, school teachers, etc. are there to raise their children and teach them right from wrong...Believe me, my children will know right from wrong long before they step foot in kindergarten...My wife and I will make sure of that.

after 3 children i offer this - when the first child was about 3 i would leave a BLANK gun out and hide and watch as they discovered it . as i saw they had seen it i would walk in and see if they wanted to look at it , of course they did so i made a production of all the safty issues ( don't ever believe a child can't understand ) and explained they could look at it handle it and so forth as long as i was present to which they agreeded . then from time to time i would leave it out with blanks loaded in it . Now they had fired it so they knew how to make it go bang !
one would shut the door to the room it was in , one would ignore it altogather and the youngest would come get me and dress me down for having a loaded gun out in the house . Not one time did i threaten punishment ! and that divice is punishment pure and simple !
IF YOU HAVE TO PUNISH TO TEACH _ YOU BETTER CHANGE THE WAY YOU TEACH !

What the hell..... I think we all just missed the point. I know I did the first time around.

For this device to work in the first place. You have to do the stupidest thing imaginable.

LEAVE A FIREARM OUT IN THE OPEN UNWATCHED FOR WHOEVER TO COME AND GRAB.

This item ENCOURAGES people to leave firearms out.

This "invention" creates a HUGE hazard, and should be made illegal before it even is produced.

I for one, will be calling the number for the inventor right now, and most likely the state police and or state government in new york to report this.

So I did call, and their attorney was not in. So the guy I talked to said he could do nothing about it, and I will be calling back tomorrow when he should be in the office.

I am also going to be calling the NRA, since I myself of course have no real legal powers, etc....

And I recommend that all of you do so also.

Yeah... the secretary or whoever answered the phone said he had left for the day, and was usually there 7 days a week... I don't know how those city people ruin their life with work... but I guess they do.

I can see it already. Someone forgets they have this do-dad, sticks it in their pants, then sits down in the car and puts the gun in the horizontal position.

in most cases ! but to punish with out teaching is poor parenting ! it is akin to torture !
Had one of mine picked up and fired the blank gun after being instructed not to then a spanking would have been in order !
however had the blank gun just been left in the open and a curious child picked it up correction would certainly been called for but a spanking no ! unless the adult that was careless gets one !

That is exactly what I'm saying, safe gun storage is the answer. Leaving a gun out just means that you are going to arm any intruder. I'm sure the electrical shock cannot be enough to harm children, so that means I'm sure an adult could handle it enough to disarm the device without much a problem, even if they had to figure it out.
