How tight?

Since I have 3 barrels for my frame, I have ordered a torque screwdriver so I can consistently tighten the forend screw.  So......... How tight (in inch-pounds)?  All input is appreciated!

I have both of my torque screwdrivers set at 24 in/lbs, works for ring and base screws too. ;)

Got mine at Sportsman's Warehouse.  Cabela's carries them also.  I would think most shorting goods stores with a good gun section would carry them.

I have the Wheeler Fat Wrench($45.00 at Mid-South as I recall) and I am very pleased with it.

Lot nicer than the fat wrench but only goes up to 36 in lbs.  Normal price is around 220.00.  I just bought a new Ultra Varmint yesterday and the first thing I checked was the forearm torque and it was 16 in lbs.  That's subject to change after I try it out next week end. Spent all night cleaning and honing trigger. Went from over 6lbs down to 30 Ozs now. Need to find out if I need to float stock or anything else that might improve accuracy. 4th 223 I own, Just love these things, needed another 1/9 to work loads for my AR.

I have several of the Uticas, they can be had for much less on ebay if you don't mind calibrating them yourself which you'll need a good torch wrench to do, I use a Sears automotive type for that.  I bought one batch of 6 for $28 shipped and got 1 good one out of them, the others need to be rebuilt, but I won't spend the money on em.  I have TS30, TS35 and TS100, all cost less than $30 each.

Sounds like you like them as much as me.  I got a lot of 5 of the TS 30's for 35.00 and they were all good and still had some time on them. I've got one of the TS 100 and two of the TS 36's from the place above.  They are brand new for $49.95 couldn't pass that up. I had to have 65 inch pounds for my 700's so I got an 85 inch pound Sears for that.  I just really like the size of the Uticas for everything else and you know exactly how many inch pounds it set on, unlike guessing on the Fat wrench. If all they need is calibrated all you have to do is take the plug out of the end and adjust.

The Wheeler FAT is on sale at Midway for $39.99. Best price I've seen so far.
