The exam results and personal details of every 14-year-old in England are to be put on an electronic database for the rest of their lives.

Under Government plans to be unveiled today, each pupil will be assigned a unique number which they will keep even after they leave school.

Employers and colleges will be able to use this number to access students’ records on the internet to check if they are telling the truth about their qualifications.

There have been so many intrusive laws, so many bad laws, so many rights eroded under the guise of "doing it for the chirrun" and "war against drugs" and now "homeland security" that this is just another blip on the scope.
All of the data they are gathering on children. That parents are willingly giving. In case they are kidnapped. Give me a break. What are the percentages of a normal kid getting kidnapped?  And one is too many is not a good answer.
Here in the US, we already have mandatory SS numbers that can reveal an amazing amount of info about you.  And many years ago, I predicted that before too long they would be inserting locator chips in the heads of babies at birth.  Of course, they'd be "doing it for the chirrun" in case they were kidnapped or they could get a medical profile if they were in a wreck and unconcious.
