Any Idea how much heavier an Encore rifle with a 24" full bull (VVC or fox ridge) barrel will be over the same rifle with 26" factory heavy barrel?

I have an 18" full bull in 450 marlin and even with that big a bore it's still pretty heavy. I'm with cknight98 on this one, I'd go with a 20-22" at most. I've been thinkin about a 22" 308 bull barrel myself.  KN

I was just wondering if anyone knew what a encore with a 26 inch T/C
stainless factory barrel on a black composit stock would weigh  :D

I weighed my encore the other night and this is what I came up with.  By the way, it's about as heavy as I want to go.

Encore SS Action
24" SS .223 barrel
Boyds Laminated Stock & Forend
Warne Maxima Base and QD Rings
Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9X40mm

Weighed about 8 1/4 to 8 1/2 pounds.  Was on a bathroom scale so take if for what it's worth.  I'd say that's probably pretty close - it's on the heavy side.  I know your not interested in the standard taper barrel, but this gives some idea of what you'd be looking at with mounts, rings & scope.

Go to http://www.singleshooters.org and look for the article on weight calculations.  It will give you the formula to determine the weight of the barrel based on bore of a bull barrel.

doc has it pretty darned close, if not right on the money. My 24" VV
Tactical 20 barrel is slightly tapered to 7/8" at the muzzle. The rifle with
scope weighs 10 1/4 pounds. It was weighed on a very accurate scale.
