I went to the range last weekend with 100 FMJ rounds I reloaded.  I just laid down on the 300 yard line and took aim at the shot up dirt on the back stop and started picking out big clumps of dirt and making them smaller.  I didn't set up targets or even evaluate these handloads, just shot them and had a good time.  The bushmaster functioned perfectly with every round.  I'm only writing this in case somebody is thinking about getting one.  I really like mine.

Where did you get your brass, and how expensive was it?

So far I've only used Remington brass to reload with.  It'd held up well, but I haven't put tons of rounds through it yet either.  Midway.com is a good place to price out reloading supplies.  I also live within driving distance of Sinclair's and they carry it on the shelf.

I have been hunting deer with my Bushy 6.8 and it is a joy to carry, so light and compact. I have yet to see a deer while carrying this handy little rifle, but when I do.................................

What bullet are you hunting with Cheese?  I can't use mine for deer in Indiana, but soon as deer season is over I'll be looking for Mr. Coyote.

115 grain Corelokt Ultra is my deer hunting bullet.

Sounds like a good one.  I've been reading that a lot of guys have been having great success with the Pro Hunters and Triple Shocks?  Have you tried the SSA Triple shocks in yours?  I tested them in mine once and the accuracy was so good it was kind of scary.  Are the coreloks out in bulk packs yet?

I have tested a few bullets at the range.

130 grain Sierra

130 grain Barnes MRX

115 grain Corelokt Ultra

115 grain Remington FMJ

Groups at 100 yards are all about the same at @ 2"

 I have been carrying my M1A mostly since the optics are better in low light with the VX3 as compared to the AR15 with the Holo sight. The Holo sight tends to diminish light as compared to the Leopold which enhances low light.

When I tested the SSA triple shocks I got one hole group at 25 yards sighting in the scope and went out to 100 yards.  Mine is completely factory other than the Leupold VX1 4-12 on it.  At 100 yards I got a group I could cover with my right thumb and I put that ammo away to be saved.  I'm almost scared to try that ammo again because I'm afraid that it won't do that well again.  Other than those expensive bullets, I get bulk FMJ off of midway and load them over 27gr of H322 just for easy shooting rounds.

I am considering changing optics to a compact 3 or 4 power scope.

I wouldn't blame you for that.  The leupold I have on mine is just because it was laying around.  It's actually not a very good fit for the rifle.  I'm considering a pistol scope or some thing with extended eye relief.  I'm still trying to figure out what would fit best on the rifle.

Check out the Trijicon ACOG scope, it seems like the best fit for an AR15, but very pricey. i have considered Burris Short Mag scopes. I believe a compact scope is best for an AR.

I just can't bring myself to drop that kind of money on a trijicon.  I know they're built well, but I just can't do it.

I have to take back what I said earlier about the SSA triple shocks making such tiny groups.  That day I fired a couple groups close that were in the same hole, but only fired one group at 100 yards.  I could cover that one group with my thumb, but I have not been able to repeat that since.  It's more like 1" to 1 1/2" groups.  I must have just gotten lucky that day.  I don't shoot that ammo often because it's expensive, but I did this last weekend I didn't get near that kind of a group.
