38s can be shot in the 357mag Handi, it's been made as a rifle, then only as an accessory barrel, and now again as a complete rilfe.

You'll have to wait until they get to your dealer, they were reintroduced just this year, but the accessory barrels are available now if you send a frame in.

Has anyone seen a price on the new 357 yet?  Will it be any cheaper with the sb1 frame?  I want one, maybe even in the combo version with the 20 ga.

The only one I've seen is the SB2-S35, not the SB1-S35, I suspect it was on an early '08 pricelist which may have been issued before H&R/Marlin decided to change it to an SB1 frame.

I have a 357 SB2.  I had a 50 caliber muzzle loader barrel fitted to it.

On the site,They have the .357 and .44 listed on the SB1 frame http://www.hr1871.com/Firearms/Rifles/handiRifle.aspx *Note: The frame of the 44 Mag. (SB1-S44) and the 357 Mag. (SB1-S35) cannot be fit with any other centerfire rifle barrel. They are capable of being fit with accessory shotgun barrels, but their rifle capability is limited to the specific 44 or 357 Mag. barrel that it is shipped on the gun. I also checked with sporting good store. Both  are priced at $202.00

What store did you get the price from. My local stores say they can't get a price yet.

The local Dicks Sporting goods quoted $202.00 for the SB2-S35 AND SB2-S44. Catch is the 6 to 10 weeks wait. I am not patient so I put out a little extra at a local shop and got the SB2-S44 for $259. I only did that because most of our shops have a waiting list.
Took ours out yesterday, don't really care for the flat black sights. Besides that, it handles great and shoots great. My boy is trying to claim it already(he out shot me) Soo we maybe going after the .357 also.

Gentlemen,
I'm confused. I always thought that the SB1 frames couldn't be fitted with any rifle barrel. Now I'm reading that NEF is offering the 357 barrel on a SB1 frame as part of a combo set-up.

If this is so, can I send in my Huntsman frame to have a 357 barrel fitted? Is the new SB1 frame different from my 4 year old Huntsman SB1 frame?

Probably yes maybe not the only way to know for sure is to contact H&R give them the ser# and they will tell you if and what bbl's can be added to your frame. Kurt

I'd say probably never since the SB1 rifles and combos both have notes that say they can't be fitted with ANY rifle barrels, only shotgun barrels. And that catch all disclaimer under it!!

I dont know if this has been brought up or not but.... What happens when somebody reames one of these new 357 or 44's to max or 445 SM. Or even uses 360 DW in one. Can the SB1 frame handel the pressure??? I know H&R will assume no liability, but somebody could get seriously hurt or worse if they can't.
I dont know if this has been brought up or not, and I dont mean to hijack this thread. This has been on my mind ever since I saw that they are using SB1 frames.

If someone buys a SB1 frame with a 357 or 44 mag barrel and then reams it out to a super mag, they are asking for trouble. If that is what you want to do then buy a SB2 frame and have a 357 or 44 Mag barrel fit to it and then ream it. While we are on the subject of low pressure rounds for the SB1 frames, why not a 45 Long Colt? It has much lower pressure than a 44 mag.

Thanks LaOtto. That's what I thought. I already have a 357 max. I am just concerned about what other people that don't know better might do. ;)
